To protect the safety and welfare of children, Bend-La Pine Schools conducts background checks on all school volunteers and workplace mentors who work directly with students. For a volunteer packet (with background check forms) please visit the office or click here.

Here are some volunteer opportunities that are available:

1-on-1 Readers
Experienced readers are working 1-on-1 with a younger reader. If you love to read and want to help a younger reader on his/her journey, this could be a rewarding experience for you and your 1-on-1 reader.

Before and After School Activities
We have a large variety of Before and After School Activities at WVMS. Some of the activities are run by volunteers, some by WVMS Staff, and some by our Artists-in-Residence. Regardless of who runs them, we could always use some extra help.

Classroom Help
Get into the thick of it - come help out in the classrooms, or be a classroom supply manager.

Exploratories
Extended Learning Opportunities. If you have a special talent or interest that you would like to share with students, this opportunity could be for you.

Field Trips
We always welcome and enjoy chaperones on field trips. The kids love it too!

Fundraising
Want to be involved in the fundraising that we do at WVMS? Join the Fundraising Committee. There are fundraising meetings scheduled a few times a year, especially when we we are planning events. Have a fundraising idea? Bring it to the Parent Community Meeting or email Wendy Winchel or Felicia Anderson

Garden
Bring your gloves and dig in! Weeding and general garden clean-up are always needed.

Library Help
We need help reshelving books, and keeping our beautiful new library looking beautiful.

Office Help
We always need extra help!
Please volunteer if you are able to.
No amount of time is too small. If you have the time ... we have a job for you!

Rapid Reading Buddies
Reading Buddies Rock! At least that is what I hear from the younger half of the Reading Buddy Team. Being a Reading Buddy is a very meaningful and rewarding commitment that you make to a young reader at WVMS. You will meet with your Buddy 2 days a week for about 30 - 40 minutes each time. We like Reading Buddies who can commit that time for the school year. This way you can build a special relationship with your Reading Buddy while helping him/her on their way to a lifetime of reading. The days and times are Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 - 9:30. There will be a brief training session to help Reading Buddies understand the process of Rapid Reading, and to ask any questions that you may have.

Snack
We are always in need of Community Snack for our daily school wide "Snack Time" and for our After School Activities. If you are unable to donate time, please consider donating healthy snacks.
